SUMMARY:Future-Ready Capabilities
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a future-focused and hopeful discussion about the capabilities that really matter for young people in Aotearoa. Our guest speakers are experienced\, respected educators with a focus on learning that nurtures student agency and wellbeing. As we navigate the changes to our education system\, this discussion will reaffirm the importance of place-based and student-led environmental education in our schools\, kura and communities.\n\nGuest speakers: Derek Wenmoth\, Kylie Horgan and Philippa Wintle \nOur speakers will draw on the recently published Future-ready Capabilities report. This new framework emerged from the conversations of a group of educators\, researchers and business leaders at the EdRising event held in Auckland in July 2025. It comes from a starting point that is uniquely Aotearoa NZ. Rather than adapting an international model\, it was built from the ground up by people who brought their own professional knowledge and cultural contexts to the task. The result is six capabilities:\n‍\n– Ecological thinking\n– Cultural fluency\n– Digital wisdom\n– Creative problem solving\n– Collective agency and leadership\n– Adaptive resilience

SUMMARY:Aotearoa Futures Forum 2026
DESCRIPTION:Whiria te Anamata – The Great Re-Weaving\nAcknowledge | Release | Transform\nIt is time to challenge the systems of the past\, let go of the mindsets that are holding us back and be unafraid. The three themes of Aotearoa Futures Forum 2026 provide the opportunity to confront today and re-weave the future. Futures thinking and foresight practices have never been more important. \nPurpose of Forum:\nThe Aotearoa Futures Forum connects those who hold responsibility for shaping\, stewarding\, and resourcing futures at local\, regional\, or national levels. \nThe three strands woven throughout the day provides the opportunity to navigate uncertain times together and gain tangible ideas to take away: \nAcknowledge the current state | Where do we stand at this point at this time? What viewpoints and worldviews are critical at micro and macro levels? \nRelease the old systems and mindsets | How do we confront the used future\, hospice the old systems and envision new possibilities? \nTransform the system | What practical steps can we take to weave a new system? How might we build momentum and keep connected? What does being a good ancestor look like in practice? \n\nSee full details and register here: Aotearoa Futures Forum 2026 — Ako Ōtautahi Learning City Christchurch
